The study of quantum dynamics is one of the most active battlegrounds for quantum supremacy, as it presents formidable challenges for classical methods such as tensor networks due to the so-called entanglement barrier. In this talk, I will discuss some recently developed techniques for circumventing this barrier, based on the transverse contraction of the tensor network associated with time evolution, and the resulting concepts of temporal entanglement and generalized temporal entanglement. After showing how we can use field theory to predict some of these quantities for critical models, I will describe a hybrid Tensor-Network/Monte-Carlo (TN-MC) algorithm based on these results, which allows to evaluate expectation values of generic local operators in 1D with a computational cost that scales only polynomially in time.
